Christian Education Mission Statement

“We will teach our children about God, Church and Scripture, modeling Christian life and faith through inter-generational learning, incorporating music, prayer, church history, faith identity, and fun into the learning process.  We will share our faith stories with each other for personal growth, for the growth of the church, and for outreach to the community.”

CALENDAR OF WORSHIP & SUNDAY SCHOOL 2012

Good news of great joy! Jean Brooks has agreed to coordinate a Sunday School program for the remainder of this church year.  Love to talk to kids?  Co-teachers are always needed.  We always learn from kids when we teach them.  The plan is as follows:

Communion Sundays: Kids gather in Sunday School until Communion Hymn played;then they will enter sanctuary & sit in front pews with a Shepherd.

All other Sundays: Kids gather in sanctuary for the beginning of the service; after the Children’s Message, they will go to Sunday School.

Nursery
: For kids ages 0-4.  Caregiving will be shared by Jodi Comeau, Liane Patterson & Julie Robbins.

Craft Sundays: Same plan as for a regular Sunday.  Kids in church first, then to Fellowship Hall.

Here is the worship calendar so far, subject to change as the Spirit moves us:

January 22          Worship Theme:  “Mark 1:14-20, Jesus calls the disciples”

                             Annual Congregational Meeting after church

REMINDERS FOR PARENTS & CAREGIVERS:

This will be a new experience for us all, as our children have rarely remained in worship for an entire service.  But they can all learn how to behave in church if you will please let them know ahead of time some simple but important things:

  • Before they enter the sanctuary, please make sure they have used the restroom.
  • Remind them that church is different from a ballgame – you should not be going out and coming back into the sanctuary because you feel like it.
  • No food or drink is allowed in the sanctuary.
  • Remind them to listen carefully to what Rev. Martha asks them to do.
  • When Communion is served, children will be served last, after the Deacons (will hopefully save us from dropped bread or spilled juice).

OPPORTUNITIES TO PARTICIPATE

We would love your assistance in making this a great experience for us all.  Want to help put on the Christmas Pageant?  Or Thanksgiving Sunday?  How about the Agape Supper?  Or the end-of-the-year picnic?  Want to be a Nursery caregiver?  There are plenty of ways to get involved.  Please don’t be shy.
